Summary of the Truly Agreed Version of the Bill

CCS HCS SCS#2 SB 155 -- PROTECTION OF ABUSED CHILDREN

This bill changes the laws regarding the protection of abused
children.

CHILD PROTECTION

A minor who has abused another child is prohibited from returning
to any residence within 1,000 feet of the abused child's home,
child care facility, or school until the abused child reaches 18
years of age.  This prohibition does not apply when the alleged
abuse occurred between siblings.

CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT REPORTS

The Children's Division of the Department of Social Services is
required to expunge identifying information from child abuse and
neglect reports by mandatory and all other reporters that has
been found to be malicious, for purposes of harassment or
retaliation, within 45 days after the conclusion of the
investigation.

Reports containing insufficient evidence of abuse or neglect by
mandatory reporters will be retained for a period of five years
from the conclusion of the investigation.  For all other
reporters, the division is required to retain identifying
information for a period of two years from the conclusion of the
investigation.
